Shelly Maudsley White's fresh and confident approach to the art of watercolor is inspired by living over 40 years in the islands of Hawaii.
Shelly is noted for her distinctive and powerful portrayal of natural beauty, and for her unusually vivid watercolors.
Her subjects cover a wide range. Whether it is a native bird, a local reef fish, a tropical flower, or a humorous pet portrait, her style remains bold, brilliant and larger than life. She especially loves to paint themes and series. Her "A Big Fish Story" (local reef fish with literary titles), "Grown Here, Not Flown Here" (native flowers of Hawaii), "No Spring Chicken!" (quirky portraits of exotic chickens) and her beloved "You Had Me at Meow… (misbehaving cats) are among her most popular paintings.
"My hope is that when people see my paintings they will be reminded of the beauty of God's creation and the Creator that made them.”
Primarily a self taught artist, Shelly has perfected her craft for four decades, and has pursued her career with imagination and drive.
